Adoption Funding Help
We never want adoption costs to turn a family away from building their forever family. At first glance the costs can seem overwhelming. Don't stress, we're here to assist you through each step of your adoption including providing you with adoption funding resources and support. Adoption can be affordable and we can show you how!
Adoption Grants And Loans
Gift of Adoption is the largest provider of adoption assistance grants awarded without regard to race, religion, age, marital status, or sexual orientation. Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded monthly to qualified applicants to remove prohibitive financial barriers and make possible the adoptions of some of the most vulnerable children in the U.S. and around the world. There is no application deadline. Families are invited to apply anytime after completing their home study and before finalization.
Our charitable foundation provides low-interest adoption loans and adoption grants to give financial assistance to families adopting internationally.
Helpusadopt.org is a national 501(c)(3) financial grant program that helps couples/individuals (regardless of ethnicity, gender, marital status, religion, or sexual orientation) with the cost of their adoptions by awarding grants up to $15,000. We support domestic, international and foster care adoptions and do not charge our applicants to apply. Since 2007, we have awarded 306 adoption grants totaling over $2.7 million.
The National Adoption Foundation provides grants and loans to adoptive families. Families can apply for outright grants from the Foundation. The grant program is open to all legal adoptions including public or private agency adoptions, international, special needs or adoptions facilitated by an attorney. There is no income requirement. There is a simple one page application and the only requirement to apply is a home study, or one in progress.
Katelyn's Fund
Katelyn's Fund provides adoption grants for adoptive families.
Pathways for Little Feet has created a designated account called the Family Fund that receives donations and provides interest-free loans to eligible families. As loans are repaid, the money is put to work in new loans. Donations to the Family Fund not only help a single family; they facilitate an unlimited number of orphan placements for years to come.
Show Hope Adoption Aid grants are the cornerstone of our work, and the original mission of our founders. One of the primary barriers standing between children and families is the cost associated with adoption. Our grants help break down that cost, and have been a part of more than 6,200 children coming home.
ABBA Fund provides interest free adoption loans and the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund to adoptive families.
Both Hands
Both Hands‘ mission is to fulfill James 1:27 by serving orphans, widows, and Christian adoptive families.
The Military Adoption Reimbursement Program is a one-time subsidy program for full-time military personnel. Adopting couples or singles can receive up to $2,000 reimbursement on adoption expenses for one child or $5,000 for siblings. The military also provides adoptive families with up to 21 days of adoption leave to bond with your new child and health care benefits before the adoption is final.
Tax benefits for adoption include both a tax credit for qualified adoption expenses paid to adopt an eligible child and an exclusion from income for employer-provided adoption assistance. The credit is nonrefundable, which means it's limited to your tax liability for the year. However, any credit in excess of your tax liability may be carried forward for up to five years. The maximum amount (dollar limit) for 2018 is $13,810 per child.
Many companies and organizations offer benefits such as leave or financial assistance to their employees who are adopting. Your employee benefits office will be able to tell you if your company participates, or you can search The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List to see if your company is listed.
