Linda Gansler's Official Statement
Bright Star Adoptions, LLC has two members, Paul Petersen and Linda Gansler. Although there is no operating agreement, Ms. Gansler is listed as a member of Bright Star with Petersen. Ms. Gansler is currently the agency administrator. Mr. Petersen served as Bright Star’s attorney and general counsel. Bright Star was licensed by the Arizona Department of Economic Security on July 11, 2018. Before 2018 Ms. Gansler did not work with or for Mr. Petersen, although as professionals in the adoption community, they were colleagues and friends.
Ms. Gansler was as surprised as anyone when she learned through media outlets that Mr. Peterson had been charged criminally for his conduct related to adoptions of children whose mothers are from the Marshall Islands. Neither Bright Star nor Ms. Gansler were involved in any way in the payments to the mothers, arranging for their transportation, visas or passports, paying living expenses, arranging for medical care, or providing housing. Bright Star did not have any contracts or agreements with the birth mothers or with families who were adopting children from the Marshall Islands. Families who expressed an interest in adopting children from the Marshall Islands were referred separately to Petersen, who continued to operate his own law firm specializing in adoptions separate and apart from Bright Star. Ms. Gansler does not have any ownership interest in Petersen’s law firm. Lynwood Jennett, who has also been charged criminally, was not a Bright Star employee or contractor. Jennett did not receive any payment from Bright Star and in fact had no contact with any of the employees or contractors who work for Bright Star.
Ms. Gansler knows nothing more about the charges against Mr. Petersen other than what is available publicly in news outlets or in the documents that are publicly available in the criminal proceedings. Ms. Gansler has worked as an adoption counselor for over twenty years and has assisted hundreds of families connecting children to parents for adoption. She is committed personally to providing any assistance she can reasonably provide to any Bright Star clients who have been impacted by the allegations.
